Ron's Superpower: Getting stuff done

Ron Kodl is 53 years old. When asked to describe his health journey in one word, he doesn’t hesitate: “Messy.”
Coming from a military veteran with four overseas tours, 15 years of service, a successful biotech career, and now a yoga studio owner, that word carries weight.
“I come from a military background,” Ron explains. “I was exposed to a lot of different things that most of the population likely isn’t. And that created some health issues that led me down a path of trying to explore what’s going on in my body.”
Ron's Turning Point
Ron grew up on a farm in the Midwest. Both parents worked. Meat and potatoes at every meal. He joined the military at 17, went straight from high school graduation to basic training. The discipline of fitness and fueling your body became second nature.
Then came the desk job. The consulting career. The slow creep of 20-30 pounds over a decade. The cycle of personal training for a few months, then off for six or eight, then back again.
But the real turning point came in 2014, when his son was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition.
“That took us as a family down a pretty deep and dark hole,” Ron says. “We were trying to understand what was going on and how to help him.”
In solidarity, Ron and his wife did extensive testing themselves. Gut microbiome. Methylation panels. The full spectrum of tests that insurance tends not to cover.
“There was very little the VA would actually test for,” Ron recalls. “Thankfully, we found a naturopathic and holistic physician who turned us on to a bunch of different tests.”
The information was valuable but overwhelming. “Too much information at times. Really complex. It often took our physician to tie everything together.”

Finding Superpower
Fast forward to late 2024. Ron knew it was time for his annual testing. The signs were there: sluggish, hard time sleeping, snoring more, no motivation to work out.
“I was stuck in this cycle of a lot of work and letting that dominate what was going on in my life.”
Instead of going back to the VA or fighting through his health plan, he found Superpower.
The results came back with a biological age of 56, three years older than his actual age. That number hit hard.
“By seeing that one number, I’m back to five days a week of working out. Which was the motivation and the butt-kick that I needed.”
His Superpower score was 94 out of 100. Potassium was high, but he knew why: a recent detox. No major surprises, but that was actually the point.
“Being fairly versed in looking at metabolic data for almost a decade now, it was reaffirming. Continue on the same path with a couple small tweaks.”
More Than Just Data
What set Superpower apart for Ron wasn’t just the testing. It was the action plan.
“There’s a lot of different options out there for testing,” he explains. “But there’s often way too much information, or it’s meant for a physician to read. This is readable. With an action plan that can actually guide you to where you need to dial up or dial down supplementation or lifestyle changes.”
“For most people, it’s ‘Okay, I’ve got the data, now what do I do with it?’ The action plan is the key. Putting it in layman’s terms so someone can actually make it happen.”
Since his test, Ron has implemented the recommendations. He worked with his acupuncturist, whom he’s seen monthly for years, to make some tweaks. More fish oil. More vitamin C for winter. Chinese herbs for respiratory support.
“The biggest thing is I feel kind of back to myself again. It’s probably been six months since I felt that way.”
A Family Affair
Ron’s commitment to health isn’t just personal. It’s become a family mission.
His wife is working with a specialist on perimenopause. Their kids, now teenagers, do regular metabolic testing annually. When summer comes, Ron plans to have them try Superpower too.
“It’s super simple and pretty much the exact same thing we would get through their pediatrician in terms of what tests are run. So I would totally go in that direction.”
The studio he runs, The Well in Dublin, California, is an extension of this philosophy. Yoga, Pilates, strength training. All focused on longevity and living well.
“One of our mantras, I can’t remember who said the quote, but it’s not how many years you live. It’s the life in those years. That’s what we’re trying to focus on.”

What’s Your Superpower?
When asked about his personal superpower, Ron thinks for a moment.
“I tend to always think about other people, not myself. But I would say for me it’s getting stuff done. I’m a doer through and through. Passed on from my parents. The farm in the Midwest plus full-time jobs. Just get it done and move on to the next thing.”
That same energy now goes into his health. And into helping others see what’s possible.
“If I had one recommendation for the federal government or insurance companies: the metabolic test that Superpower provides should be covered for everyone annually. That should be the input to an annual exam. What are you doing from a lifestyle perspective, and how’s that playing out inside your body?”
For Ron, the data isn’t just numbers. It’s motivation. It’s accountability. It’s proof that being proactive works.
“I’m definitely more motivated, less brain fog, sleeping better. It was the trigger I needed. And the few small changes in supplementation. I feel back to myself again.”
