Why I joined Superpower

A letter on a hard hit to the head, 115 feet on one breath, and health as the thing everything else rests on.

I came to Superpower because I’m obsessed with health.

That obsession grew out of a couple of intense health experiences in my late teens. One was a hard hit to the head that changed the way I processed the world around me and, for a time, left me feeling disconnected from myself.

At twenty-one, I decided to take my health seriously for the first time. I focused on the basics: sleep, food, movement, time outside. All the things I had previously treated as optional.

Once I got used to feeling good, it became something I wanted to protect. Feeling better made it easier to make better choices, and I’ve wanted to move through life with that kind of energy and vigour ever since.
Health shapes so much of how we experience life: how well we move, how resilient we are, how present we can be, and ultimately how much quality time we get with the people we love. I think we’re getting closer to a world where everyone has the tools to understand what’s happening inside their body and, more importantly, knows what to do about it.
That’s what excites me about Superpower. We treat every person as an individual. We take the complexity of human health seriously rather than averaging it away, and we’re building something that can turn that complexity into clear, actionable information. When I met the team, I found people who thought about health in the same way — and who shared an enormous sense of urgency around getting better health tools into as many hands as possible.

Outside of work, I try to be a jack of all trades and am very much a master of none. Pottery is the newest pursuit. Before that came freediving — this year I made it 115 feet down on a single breath — along with cooking, reading, piano, and just about anything that gets me outdoors.

Nature is where I feel most connected. I could watch the sun glint off the ocean all day.
And most mornings, there’s Bach playing somewhere in the background.
