Why I joined Superpower

A letter on Notion databases, living with a chronic illness, and designing health people can trust.

I'm the kind of person who makes a Notion database for everything. I have an infamous guide for Tokyo, one for my knitting projects, and one for managing my health while living with a chronic illness.

That health system tracked protein, fibre, workouts, supplements, habits, doctors' notes and questions for my next appointment. It started to feel like a second job.

I carried a lot of shame around my diagnosis, and worried that asking about certain treatments would make me look like I was chasing a trend rather than something that might actually help. That uncertainty delayed my care, and it taught me how much trust matters when someone is trying to understand their own health.

So when the opportunity to join Superpower came along, it felt like I'd found my people.

My job here is to turn a complicated health system into an experience that feels clear, useful and personal. I think across the whole member journey: how someone understands their data, how they book a test, how they talk with an AI doctor. Each interaction should tell them what's happening, what matters next, and why they can trust what they're hearing.

I've spent the last 14 years designing for startups. That work taught me to move fast and sweat the details. It also taught me to think in systems and how all the pieces fit together.

My definition of design has expanded along the way. I use AI to explore ideas, I fix small UI issues myself, and more recently I've started shipping full features into production. We care less about where a role formally ends and more about getting the experience right for our members.

Outside work, I'll still be making databases, whether that's planning my next trip or building a wine tasting app with my husband.
