About the mold toxins test
Mycotoxins are chemical byproducts, including aflatoxins, trichothecenes, ochratoxins, and other toxic compounds such as gliotoxin and zearalenone, produced by certain mold species and excreted in urine after exposure. This test measures their presence directly, which makes it different from a mold allergy test: it assesses toxin load, not your immune system's response. The analysis uses LC-MS/MS (liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry), a technique that detects these compounds at parts-per-trillion sensitivity, significantly more precise than ELISA-based antibody tests. Where mold toxin exposure comes from
Mold toxin exposure does not require a visible mold problem or a flooded home. It generally falls into two categories. What this test measures

This is not a mold allergy test
These two tests measure entirely different things. An IgE mold allergy test measures your immune system's antibody response to mold proteins: it detects sensitivity, not toxin exposure. A mycotoxin test measures the chemical toxins mold produces, directly in your urine, regardless of whether your immune system reacts to them. That distinction matters: someone can have a negative allergy test and still carry a meaningful mycotoxin burden, and the reverse is also true. The two are complementary rather than redundant.
