Mutations in MTHFR (C677T and A1298C variants) can lead to elevated homocysteine, which is linked to cardiovascular disease, blood clots, pregnancy complications, and mood disorders. About 40% of people carry at least one MTHFR variant.
Superpower is a blood biomarker test, not a genetic test - so we don't test the MTHFR gene directly. However, we test the biomarkers that MTHFR mutations affect: homocysteine, folate, B12, CBC (which shows megaloblastic anemia from folate issues), and inflammation markers. If you have an MTHFR variant, these are the blood markers you need to monitor regularly.

Your annual lab test panel takes about a week to process. We will text you as soon as they become available in your dashboard. Other types of tests may have different testing windows. The Superpower concierge is your own health assistant who helps answer your questions on your results, ensure smooth scheduling, coordination of any office-based tests, specialist referrals as needed, and navigating you to interface with your care team.
